Welcome to the MBA Case Competitons !

I thought this would be a great idea to get things rolling for our case competitions and hopefully get the word out for other competitions throughout the year and in the future. I am new to this thing, so I will try to post the case competiton views from the BIG 10 Competiton.

Here are the details:
This weekend Fisher's MBA Case team, coached by Marc Ankerman, won first place in the 2008 Big 10 MBA Case Competition. The winning team was comprised of first year MBA students: Sally Heckman, Travis Helm, Dan Larsen and Kimani Phifer. Second place was awarded to the team from Michigan State University's Eli Broad Graduate School of Management and third place to Purdue University's Krannert School of Management. In the final round, Travis Helm of Ohio State won best individual speaker and Todd Hagopian of Michigan State won best Q&A.

This year represented the 16th year of the Big 10 MBA Case Competition and 10 of the 11 schools in the Big 10 sent teams of first year MBA students to compete. Judging was conducted by a top-flight panel of business professionals, who generously gave of their time to prepare the case and to serve as judges. Our head judge was Diane Burton, the Fred Kayne Career Development Professor of Entrepreneurship from the Sloan School of Management at MIT, and author of the case used in the competition.

Congratulations to all the teams team for terrific presentations and analysis. Thanks to all the coaches for providing great support, our judges for their time, dedication and wonderful interactions with each of the teams, and our student volunteers for making things run smoothly and making all feel welcome. Finally, special thanks to our case competition director/organizer, Ly Zamora, who did a superb job in creating an event that provided a memorable experience to everyone involved.
